Carolina Ends Regular Season at Dartmouth on Saturday

CHAPEL HILL -- The University of North Carolina women's lacrosse team will play its final game of the 2004 regular season on Saturday afternoon when it plays at Dartmouth at noon on Scully-Fahey Field in Hanover, N.H. The Tar Heels, 8-7 overall this season, need a win to improve their chances at earning an at-large bid to the 2004 NCAA Tournament.
Dartmouth (10-4) lost at home to Duke, 11-7, on Thursday. The Tar Heels have lost twice to Duke this season, 7-6 in two overtimes on March 13 and 12-11 in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament semifinals on Apr. 23. Both of those UNC losses to Duke were played at Henry Stadium in Chapel Hill.
Carolina is ranked 12th in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association national poll, while the Big Green is ranked ninth. UNC is 0-7 this season against teams ranked in the top 10 of the IWLCA rankings.
2004 NCAA Touranment bids will be announced on Sunday evening.
