Ashe Shares ACC Player of the Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina sophomore forward Corey Ashe was tabbed Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Co-Player of the Week after leading the Tar Heels to a win and tie at the Ohio State Classic over the weekend. Ashe shares the honor with Wake Forest's Scott Sealy, who led the Deacons to a win and a tie at the same tournament.
Ashe scored two goals to lead the Tar Heels to a second-place finish in the tourney.In Sunday's 2-1 win over the host Buckeyes, Ashe made a midfield take-away from an Ohio State player and went on to score the game-winner in the 85th minute of play.The Virginia Beach, Va., native also scored North Carolina's only goal early in the second half in a 1-1 tie with No. 14 Penn State.Ashe was one of three Tar Heels named to the all-tournament team.
The Tar Heels return to action at the Carolina Nike Classic this weekend against No. 14 Florida International and No. 13 Virginia Commonwealth. Carolina faces FIU at 7:30 p.m. Friday and wraps up the event with VCU at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Wake Forest rounds out the field of four nationally-ranked teams.
