TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of North Carolina baseball team was picked to finish second in the Atlantic Coast Conference by SEBaseball.com and was one of three schools to place at least four players on college baseball website's preseason all-conference team, which was released Monday.
Carolina was picked to finish second behind league newcomer Miami and was one of six ACC squads predicted to reach an NCAA regional.
Sophomore starters Andrew Miller and Daniel Bard were each named to the preseason all-conference first team, while senior second baseman Greg Mangum and sophomore reliever Robert Woodard claimed second team honors.
The 2005 Tar Heels, who opened practice at Boshamer Stadium Monday, open the season February 16 at home against Appalachian State.
