No. 15 UNC Women's Tennis Tops No. 29 Hoosiers 6-1

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The 15th-ranked North Carolina women's tennis team beat 29th-ranked Indiana 6-1 Sunday afternoon at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The Tar Heels took the doubles point and won three singles matches in a row to clinch the win at 4-0. The Tar Heels move to 4-0 on the season. The Hoosiers, coming off a 5-2 loss to Duke on Saturday in Durham, N.C., are now 2-2.
Carolina won the doubles point after winning at the No. 1 and 2 seeds. At No. 1, the 14th-ranked tandem of Aniela Mojzis and Kendall Cline defeated Indiana's Batty/Walterova 8-1. The pair move to 13-1 on the season. The sophomore team of Sara Anundsen and Jenna Long won the other doubles match at the No. 2 seed, beating the Hoosiers' McGaggifan/Williams 8-4.
In singles, Anundsen clinched the match at the No. 4 seed after beating Brianna Williams 6-1, 6-1. At the No. 2 seed, #37 Cline came back after falling in the first set and defeated Sarah Batty 5-7, 6-1, (10-7). Cline, who is now 18-2 this year in singles play, has won her last eight matches.
At the No. 1 seed, #26 Mojzis won her match against #91 Dora Vastag by default after Vastag retired due to injury.
Sophomore Caitlin Collins and freshman Charlotte Tansill also had wins at the No. 5 and 6 seeds, respectively.
The Tar Heels are back in action Feb. 3-6 as they head to the University of Wisconsin for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The trip marks the first away match for Carolina this season. The annual tournament features 16 of the top women's tennis programs in the country.
