CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - After equaling the most points by a North Carolina rookie since 1998, midfielder Scott Campbell was named to the College Soccer News All-Freshman First Team, the website announced Friday.
A second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference choice and a member of the ACC All-Freshman Team, Campbell finished second on the team in points, goals and assists and tied for the team lead with four game-winning scores. The Plantation, Fla., product tallied 26 points on 10 goals and six assists, matching Marcus Storey's 2001 point total. Chris Carrieri had 29 points as a rookie in 1998.
Campbell, who is one of 11 starters expected to return for the 2006 season, had three goals versus Boston College Nov. 4 for the Tar Heels' first hat trick since 2001.
