UNC Women's Golf Finishes In Middle Of Pack At Texas A&M Mo-morial

BRYAN, TEXAS. - The University of North Carolina women's golf team finished the final round of the 2005 Texas A&M Mo-morial with a score of 330, placing them in eighth out of 15 participating teams. Southern Methodist captured this year's title with a final round score of 315, putting them ahead of host Texas A&M and Kent State who both finished one stroke behind the Mustangs. Texas Christian and Northwestern rounded out the top five. The 330 score for Carolina was the worst out of their three rounds of play.
After the first day of play, Tar Heel Ann Laney was in a tie for second shooting seven over par. Her final round 86 bumped her to a tie for 13th overall at 21 over par. Samantha Richdale of Illinois State finished one stroke ahead of Gabby Wedding of Kent State to win the championship.
Following Laney, Katie Miller had the second best finish for the Heels, followed by Shannon Boyle, Romi Irons, and Laura Caniff. Caniff posted the best final round as she shot an 81.
Carolina will return to action March 11th as they travel to Blythewood, South Carolina to participate in the Lady Gamecock Classic.
