Carolina's Women's Golfers In 13th Place After First Round of LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic

Baton Rouge, La. - Carolina's women's golf team is in 13th place with a 313 total after the first round of the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic. Host Louisiana State leads the field of 16 teams with an eight-over-par 296 total. Tulane is six shots back with a 302 total while NC State is third at 303 and Birmingham Southern and Vanderbilt are tied for fourth place with 305 totals.
Alison Walshe of Tulane leads all individuals after firing a three-under 69. Emily Klein of Birmingham Southern is two strokes back in second place after carding an 71. Four players are tied for third place at even par 72 - Vanderbilt's Chris Brady, Mississippi's Katie Davidson, Louisiana State's Rebecca Kuhn and Louisville's Meghan Little.
Carolina sophomore Katie Miller led the way for the Tar Heels and is tied for seventh place at one-over 73. Beth Marushak and Ann Laney both carded 79s and are tied for 40th place while Romi Irons posted an 82 and is tied for 68th and Laura Caniff shot 83 and is tied for 73rd place.
The 54-hole event continues through Sunday and is being played at The University Club which features a par 72, 6,276-yard layout.
