Martinson Ties for Ninth Place At LPGA Event

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Patricia Martinson, North Carolina's assistant women's golf coach, tied for ninth place at the 2006 Golf For Women Magazine LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Championship. Martinson fired a one-under-par 71 in the second round and that was sandwiched between a pair of 75s in the first and third rounds for a five-over 221 total.
The 54-hole event was played at Pinehurst #8 in Pinehurst, N.C. Karen Davies, from Carefree, Ariz., captured the championship in a one-hole sudden-death playoff with Charlaine Hirst of Pinehurst. Both players concluded regulation play with one-under 215 totals.
Sally Austin, North Carolina's head coach, fired a three-under-par 69 in the second round and finished with a 232 total to tie for 38th place.
