Carolina Postgame Notes vs. Virginia
Carolina committed 10 turnovers for the third game in a row. The 30 turnovers is Carolina's fewest in any three-game stretch under Coach Roy Williams. The previous low was 32 (9 vs. Wisconsin, 13 vs. Michigan State and 10 vs. Illinois in the final three games of the 2005 NCAA Tournament).
Carolina shot 37.9 percent from the floor, the first time under 40 percent since Kentucky. It was the third-lowest percentage of the season (Gonzaga and Kentucky were lower).
Carolina had a season-high 21 offensive rebounds (19 twice before) and scored 21 points on second chance opportunities. Brandan Wright tied a team high this year with five offensive boards.
Brandan Wright shot a season-low 31.3 percent from the floor (5 of 16). His previous low as in the season opener against Sacred Heart when he shot 4 for 9 (44.4 percent).
Reyshawn Terry did not score a field goal for the second game in a row, the first time that has happened since February 2005.
Quentin Thomas had a career-high five rebounds (previous was four). He only had four rebounds in six previous games this season.
Carolina shot 63.4 percent from the free throw line, its lowest percentage since shooting 60.0 percent in the loss to Gonzaga.
The 41 free throw attempts were a season high for UNC. Previous was 34 vs. Ohio State.
Carolina's 12 steals equaled a season-high (Gardner-Webb and Florida Atlantic).
