Carolina shot 50.0 and 61.1 percent from the floor in the two halves, respectively, and held the Hurricanes to 35.7 in the first and 35.3 in the second.
In the five games (10 halves) since losing at Virginia Tech, the Tar Heels have shot 50 percent or better in seven of 10 halves and held the opposition to less than 40 percent in nine of 10 halves. (Georgia Tech shot 48.4 in the second half).
Carolina has held the last three opponents (Wake Forest, Arizona and Miami) to less than 40 percent shooting in six consecutive halves.
This was the ninth time this year the Tar Heels shot 50 percent or better from the floor in both halves.
Carolina (20-2) has won 20 games now for the 49th time in 97 seasons and the third time in as many years under Roy Williams. This is UNC's 34th 20-win season in the last 37 years.
Roy Williams has now won 20 or more games in 17 of his years as a head coach (his teams won 19 in each of the two other years).
Carolina equaled its season high in scoring with 105 points. UNC also had 105 in a 105-52 win over Florida Atlantic.
The 41 point win was the largest in an ACC game since Carolina beat Virginia by 45 points on March 1, 2006.
It was Carolina's second-largest win over Miami and the largest since the Hurricanes joined the CC. UNC beat Miami by 45 points (122-77) on Dec. 6, 1986.
This was the sixth time this year Carolina has reached 100 points in a game and the first time in an ACC contest. The last time UNC reached 100 in an ACC game was a 110-76 win at Virginia on Jan. 29, 2005.
Tyler Hansbrough had 22 points and 13 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the year and 12th of his career. Hansbrough is closing in on 1,000 career points. He goes into the NC State game with 992 points. He will become the 59th Tar Heel to reach 1,000, an NCAA record.
Carolina made a season-high 12 three-point field goals. That is the most in a game by UNC since the 2006 ACC Tournament semifinals when the Tar Heels knocked in 12 in a loss against Boston College.
Quentin Thomas had a career-high eight assists and just one turnover. His previous high was six on three occasions. He has 32 assists and 11 turnovers since returning from a nine-game absence due to a sore foot.
Carolina finished the game with 26 assists on 36 field goals, one assist off the season-high (27 vs. Rutgers). At one point in the second half, Carolina had assists on 20 of its first 22 baskets and 22 of the first 25.
Brandan Wright tied his season-high with four blocked shots (third time this year he has four blocks), but it was only the second game in which he has not scored in double figures.
