CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina women's golf coach Sally Austin announced Wednesday the signing of Catherine O'Donnell, from Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.., and Allie White, from Lancaster, Ohio, who will join the Tar Heel team in the fall of 2008.
"We are excited to announce that Allie and Catherine will join our team in the fall of 2008," says Austin. "Both are incredible athletes, having had success in high school in several sports and having won junior golf tournaments at the national level. They have shown they are both extraordinary athletes, students and leaders. We are thrilled they have chosen to become Tar Heels."
O'Donnell, who attended Nease High School, was the 2007 Optimist Junior Champion after finishing fourth in 2006. She lettered at Lancaster High School and was the Ohio state high school champion in 2006 and 2007. A member of the 2007 Junior Solheim Cup Team, White won the 2006 Hudson Junior Invitational, was the runner-up at the 2007 McDonald's Betsy Rawls Championship, tied for fifth place at the 2007 Rolex Junior Girls Championship and placed fifth at the 2007 Westfield Junior PGA Championship.
