Tar Heels Tangle With Towson Midweek

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - After dropping its first series at home since 2005 last weekend, North Carolina looks to bounce back midweek with a pair of games against Towson at Boshamer Stadium. The Tar Heels (18-3) and Tigers (6-11) will square off at 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.
Carolina has a 23-2 lead in the all-time series and has won 10 straight over Towson since 2002. The Tar Heels outscored the Tigers 22-5 over two games a year ago.
Freshman Dustin Ackley leads Carolina's offensive attack with a .481 average, 11 doubles and 27 RBI on the season. The Tar Heels are batting .303 as a team with 18 home runs. On the mound, UNC owns the ACC's top staff ERA at 2.47.
Towson owns a .274 team batting average and is led by Kyle Skellchock, who is hitting .394 with five home runs and 16 RBI. The Tigers own a 6.80 staff ERA and have lost four straight heading into this week. Towson plays at Richmond Monday.
After the pair of games with the Tigers, Carolina travels to Virginia Tech for a three-game series beginning Friday.
