CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Coming off a 4-1 week and a series win at Virginia Tech, third-ranked North Carolina returns to action against in-state opponent Davidson Wednesday at 6 p.m. Boshamer Stadium. The Tar Heels (22-4) own a 79-21 lead in the all-time series with the Wildcats (15-11) and scored a 23-7 win in last year's meeting. A webcast of the game will be available through ACC Select.
Sophomore right-hander Adam Warren (4-0) will make the start for Carolina. He has won four straight midweek starts and has allowed only three runs over 22 innings for a 1.23 ERA. Warren has struck out 18 against 10 walks.
Two-time ACC Player of the Week Dustin Ackley continues to lead the Tar Heels at the plate with a .485 average and an ACC-best 36 RBI. He is riding an 18-game hitting streak and has 17 multi-hit games on the year.
Davidson will start right-hander Rob Wilson, a prep teammate of UNC ace Robert Woodard at Charlotte's Myers Park High School. Wilson is 1-1 with a 6.39 ERA in 38 innings. The Wildcats are batting .320 as a team and have five individuals batting .350 or better. Sophomore Matt Webb leads the team with eight home runs and 27 RBI.
