UNC Enters ESPN/Softball USA Poll At No. 23

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --- Riding an NCAA-best and school-record 25-game win streak, the North Carolina softball cracks the rankings in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 Poll for the first time this season, after receiving votes on numerous occasions.
The Tar Heels (32-8) are ranked No. 23, highest of three Atlantic Coast Conference teams in the poll. League foes Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech come in at No. 24 and No. 25, respectively. Carolina finds itself in the poll for the first time since May 14, 2006. The Tar Heels began the season 7-8 before starting their amazing win streak, which has led them to the top of the ACC standings with a 6-0 league record.
UNC plays Gardner-Webb in a doubleheader Wednesday before heading to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech in a Top-25 weekend showdown.
