CHAPEL HILL --- North Carolina placed three players on the 2007 Tar Heel Invitational All-Tournament team as centerfielder Breanna Brown and pitchers Lisa Norris and Amber Johnson were honored for their outstanding performances over the weekend.
Brown was stellar at the plate and ranked near the top of the tournament leaders in numerous offensive categories. Her .600 batting average was tops among those with at least eight at-bats, and she was second in runs scored with six. She ranked third in stolen bases with three and was her usual solid defensive self, picking up an outfield assist.
Norris and Johnson both had fantastic weekends in the circle for the Tar Heels. Each picked up two wins against zero losses as Carolina never trailed in its four games. Norris pitched 16.2 innings -- including two complete games and a save -- and gave up just seven hits and three runs for a 1.26 ERA. She struck out a career-high 13 batters in a 1-0 shutout win against Fairfield.
Johnson had an ERA of 0.84 in 8.1 innings of work, allowing just five hits and a single run. Opponents batted just .179 against her, and she didn't yield a single extra-base hit in moving her record to 5-2. She also earned the win in the championship game against Marshall.
