Tar Heels Continue Action At Aramark Sprints

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - After a competitive day of racing on Saturday, the North Carolina rowing team will be back in action on Sunday morning at the Aramark South/Central Sprints on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The varsity eight and novice eight A boats will race in C finals, while the second varsity eight and novice eight B boats will contend in D finals. UNC also has a pair of fours racing, one in the varsity four C final and one in the open four C final.
All boats raced in morning heats to earn their spots in the afternoon semifinals. UNC's top novice eight boat turned in the best Tar Heel finish of the afternoon, winning its C/D semifinal in 7:41.20 to advance to the C final on Sunday at 9:40 a.m. In that race, Carolina will see Indiana, Duke, Murray State, Cincinnati and Tennessee B. UNC's B novice eight finished fifth in that race and advanced to the D final against Eastern Michigan and Clemson's B boat at 9 a.m.
UNC's novice eight A boat is made up of Paige Wall (coxswain), Kallie Knop, Leigh Habegger, Cara Van Dorn, Kendra Radkowski, Kasey Munson, Andi Drabot, Molly Tesch and Annie Baer. The novice eight B is Kaiea Buck (coxswain), Emily Schultz, Kristen Fromal, Caitlin Coogan, Danielle Litt, Mackenzie Huffman, Brittni McCrimmon, Ashley Rumple and Sarah Dowd.
The Carolina varsity eight finished third in its C/D semifinal in 7:20.66 and will race in the C final Sunday at 10:10 a.m. against Miami, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas and Texas. The lineup for that boat is Shannon Wilson (coxswain), Lisy McIntee, Maegan Wareham, Adriann Spinks, Christin Cotten, Mary Sasson, Megan McMullin, Ruby Woodside and Megan Mitzel.
The second varsity eight finished fourth in its C/D semifinal in a time of 7:35.62 and will race in the D final Sunday at 9:10 a.m. against Cincinnati and Eastern Michigan. The lineup for UNC's second varsity eight is Emily Zepeda (coxswain), Kathryn Winz, Elizabeth Gardiner, Chandler Sours, Maeghan Sill, Priscilla Poor, Katie Wood, Emily Williams and Eugenia Delbono.
In the C final for the varsity four, UNC will take on Miami, Duke, Texas, Iowa, Indiana and Cincinnati at 9:50. The varsity four lineup is Amy Dement (coxswain), Kayla Hackett, Whitney Hileman, Diane Reynolds and Lindley Barrow.
In the open four C final at 9:30, the Tar Heels will face Murray State, Iowa, and Cincinnati. The lineup for that boat is Hope Newton (coxswain), Molly Jones, Allie McCoy, JoAnne Rogers and Suzanne Ploeger.
