Former UNC Standout McCarty Playing In U-20 World Cup

MONTREAL - Former North Carolina All-America midfielder Dax McCarty will represent the United States at the 2007 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Canada from June 30-July 22. The U.S. squad opens play Saturday against Korea and is also scheduled to face Poland July 3 and Brazil July 6. All three games will be televised on ESPNU.
Currently a member of FC Dallas of Major League Soccer, McCarty has started 11 of 14 games played this season and has tallied four assists.
He was an All-America in 2005 with the Tar Heels before entering the MLS SuperDraft early as a Generation adidas player. McCarty was the sixth overall selection by FC Dallas in 2006.
