CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Unbeaten away from home this season, North Carolina returns to the road Saturday for a 7 p.m. meeting with VCU at SportsBackers Stadium in Richmond, Va. The Tar Heels (2-2-3) are 2-0-1 away from Chapel Hill this season and own a 3-2-0 lead in the all-time series with the Rams (4-1-1).
Both teams should be well rested, as neither has played since Sept. 22. Carolina is coming off a stunning 2-1 overtime loss to No. 6 Boston College, a game which they led with just over three minutes remaining. VCU has won its last two, including a 5-0 victory over American last time out.
Sophomore forward Bill Dworsky leads UNC with a career-best eight points on three goals and two assists. He is the only Tar Heel with more than two points on the season.
The Carolina defense, led by Hermann Award candidate Andre Sherard, has been solid on the season and sports a 0.65 goals against average. The loss to BC marked the first time all season that the Tar Heels had allowed more than one goal.
VCU keeper Andrew Dykstra has allowed just three goals on the season, which is good for a 0.55 GAA. Pat Viray leads the Rams' offense with three goals and four assists.
After Saturday's match, the Tar Heels return home to face Liberty Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
