Fresno State Head Coach Mike Batesole
(opening statement): "That was an extremely well played game on both ends. Both teams threw big pitches when they needed them and there was just enough offense to make it a good baseball game. I was proud of our guys and how they all came out attacking. We've won two so tonight didn't hurt us. We just have to go out and take care of business tomorrow."
(on leaving pitcher Justin Miller in): "Justin was throwing the ball exceptionally well. Give credit to (UNC third baseman) Chad Flack because he really got into that ball."
Fresno State leftfielder Steve Susdorf
(about UNC pitcher Alex White): "He has a really good fastball and unfortunately we just couldn't catch up to it today."
(about focusing on tomorrow): "We just have to shake it off, clear our minds and go out and take care of it tomorrow."
Fresno State second baseman Erik Wetzel
(about tonight's loss): "There's nothing to be demoralized about because that's a good team in the other dugout."
(about focusing on tomorrow): "We're not thinking about our backs being to the wall. We're just going out and playing baseball."
North Carolina Head Coach Mike Fox
(opening statement): "Wow. I really don't know what to say. Our pitching was the story of the game. Matt (Harvey) gave us exactly what we needed. We were a split second from getting a double play in the first inning. I think Alex (White) has found a new role for us. I keep thinking we're dreaming, but we're happy to be here for another day."
(about who will pitch tomorrow): "Adam Warren will start for us. He has four days rest. (Pitching) Coach (Scott) Forbes and I will have to evaluate the bullpen."
(about taking starting pitcher Matt Harvey after five innings and whether he considered leaving him in the game): "We calculated how many pitches he threw last night and tonight. He was up over 110 pitches. He'd already given us all we asked for."
(on coming from behind tonight): "The key is to remember the game is nine innings long. Every time you win out here it helps. You go through the same routine."
North Carolina third baseman Chad Flack
(about his home run at bat): "He happened to leave one over the plate for me."
(about where this win ranks among his CWS experiences): "This has to be No. 1. We're here another day. We have a chance to play tomorrow. I have to rank it No. 1."
North Carolina pitcher Alex White
(about coming in relief vs. starting): "It's fun. It is a different mentality. With the bases loaded, you have to throw strikes. Tonight I primarily went with the fast ball and it worked."
(about how he feels after pitching two nights in a row): "I felt better tonight than I did yesterday. I felt like I was throwing harder tonight. I don't know how I'll feel tomorrow."
