CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina, ranked No. 8 in this week's Soccer America poll, will look to remain unbeaten Tuesday when it travels to Liberty for its first true road match of the season. The Tar Heels enter the 7 p.m. tilt with a 4-0-1 record, while the Flames stand 3-1-0.
The Tar Heels are coming off a 2-1 overtime win over rival NC State in their Atlantic Coast Conference opener. Senior Garry Lewis scored the game-winner in the 93rd minute, while classmate Michael Callahan chipped in with two assists in the victory.
Junior Eddie Ababio leads Carolina with three goals and seven points, but eight different Tar Heels have scored on the young season. Senior goalkeeper Jacob Wescoe ranks among the ACC's best with a 0.57 goals against average in 478 minutes.
Darren Amoo is Liberty's top scorer with four goals in four games. The Flames won three straight to open the season before falling to Radford by a 2-1 score in their last outing.
UNC is 2-0 all-time against Liberty after a 1-0 in Lynchburg, Va., in 2006 and a 7-1 win in Chapel Hill last season.
The Tar Heels continue a two-game road trip Friday at Boston College.
