Q&A: Alex Dixon

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - On Sept. 16, freshman forward Alex Dixon scored his first collegiate goal against Liberty. Later in the first half of a 4-1 Tar Heel victory against the Flames, Dixon scored the game-winning goal. Dixon, who added a goal last time out against East Tennessee State, is from Humble, Texas, and spent time in the U.S. under-17 Residency program in 2006-07.
TarHeelBlue.com: What has the adjustment to college life and college soccer been like?
Alex Dixon: The adjustment to college life has been good. I've just been getting used to classes and finding out where everything is on campus. College soccer hasn't been that hard to adjust to, just the physicality and speed of play.
THB.com: What was your experience in the U.S. under-17 Residency Program like? What did you gain from it?
AD: It was a good experience. Being away from home helped me mature a lot. My game improved a lot technically and tactically.
THB.com: How did you feel after scoring your first collegiate goal?
AD: It was sort of a relief and a bunch of excitement to finally get the first one out of the way.
THB.com: Where is your favorite place to eat on Franklin Street?
AD: Asia Café
THB.com: What is your favorite movie?
AD: Batman
THB.com: What did you do for fun this summer?
AD: Just hung out with my friends back home.
THB.com: What did you do to improve your game this summer?
AD: Played a lot of soccer and ran to get back in shape from surgery.
THB.com: Do you have a pregame ritual?
AD: Listen to music and try to relax.
THB.com: What's the best advice you've received and who gave it to you?
