GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina's Michael Farfan and NC State's Ronnie Bouemboue share this week's Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week honor after leading their respective squads to unbeaten weeks.
Farfan tallied a four-point week for No. 2 North Carolina, as the Tar Heels defeated Liberty and tied at No. 6 Wake Forest. The junior midfielder set up Billy Schuler's game-winner against the Flames when he beat three defenders and sent a cross to far post for the 75th-minute goal Tuesday. Friday in Winston-Salem, Farfan assisted on Alex Dixon's score two minutes in and then buried a penalty kick in the 57th minute in the 2-2 draw.
Bouemboue scored the lone goal in the 18th-ranked Wolfpack's 1-0 win at No. 8 Duke. The senior forward scored with 49 seconds left in the second overtime. For his efforts, Bouemboue was named to both TopDrawerSoccer.com and CollegeSoccerNews.com teams of the week.
Currently, Bouemboue leads the ACC in both goals (6) and points (17), while Farfan ties for second in the league in goals (5) and third in points (13).
North Carolina and NC State both take on non-conference opponents at home tonight. The Tar Heels welcome Campbell, while NC State hosts Georgia Southern. Both games square off at 7 p.m.
