CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina junior midfielder Michael Farfan, a first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection, was honored by Top Drawer Soccer Thursday with a spot on its 2009 Men's College Soccer Team of the Season. Farfan was a third-team choice after posting five goals and three assists this season.
An impact player after transferring to Chapel Hill from Cal State Fullerton, Farfan has started all 18 matches and was a two-time ACC Player of the Week during the regular season. His creative play has helped spark a Carolina offense that is second in the ACC with 38 goals and is averaging over two goals per game.
Farfan and the Tar Heels will face either Brown or Stony Brook in an NCAA Championship second round match Sunday at 2 p.m. at Fetzer Field.
