1) How did you get started in gymnastics?
When I was about five years old, someone came to my daycare center to teach us gymnastics. I liked it so much and was good at it so they recommended I start taking classes at a gym. My mom was also a gymnast when she was younger.
2) What do you like most about being an athlete at UNC?
I love being an athlete at UNC because of the long tradition of great athletes that have come from this prestigious university. It's a great honor to represent UNC and be able to say that I am a Tar Heel.
3) Do you have any pre-meet rituals or superstitions?
I would say the fact that we eat at Panera before every single competition that it has become a sort of team ritual. Other than that, not really, except I like to visualize my routines the night before a competition and before the meet I listen to music to get myself pumped up!
4) Of all your teammates, past and present, who have you learned the most from? And why?
It's hard to pick just one teammate, but I would say I've learned the most from Christine Robella. In and out of the gym she was a great role model and she showed me what college gymnastics was all about. She was an amazing friend but being the leader that she was, she also put me in line when I needed it!
5) What is your most memorable moment with the UNC gymnastics team?
When our flight was delayed in the Charlotte airport indefinitely; those are some great memories!
6) Who has had the biggest impact on your gymnastics career?
My mom and club coach Kelli Hill are the biggest influences in shaping me to be the gymnast I am today.
7) What is your favorite and least favorite event? And why?
My favorite event is bars because I love the feel of swinging around and it comes naturally to me. My least favorite event is vault because, well, it doesn't come so naturally.
8) Who in your life do you admire the most? And why?
The person I admire the most in my life is my mom because she has worked so hard and she has gotten me to where I am today.
9) Where is your favorite place to eat on Franklin Street?
Hmm that is tough, but I would probably have to say Top Of the Hill.
10) After you complete your collegiate gymnastics career, what would you like to do?
I'm not sure yet, but I might like to work with Cirque Du Soleil. Or travel around the world.
