- With Friday's 5-2 win over Dartmouth, Carolina improved to 10-0 in regional play at home over the last four seasons. The Tar Heels are 74-52 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, 39-20 under Mike Fox and 27-8 in the postseason since the start of the 2006 tourney.
- With Friday's victory, the Tar Heels are now 10-0 in NCAA Tournament openers under Mike Fox. Carolina has not dropped an NCAA opener since 1998.
- In his 200th consecutive start, Dustin Ackley went 3-for-5 to set the North Carolina career base hit record with 329 in just three seasons. He moved past Chad Flack's 328 hits from 2005-08.
- Ackley is batting .464 (26-56) in May with eight multi-hit games in 13 chances.
- Ackley also extended a 15-game hitting streak in NCAA play dating to Carolina's final four games of the 2007 College World Series. He has hit safely 19 of 24 career postseason games and has 11 multi-hit efforts in NCAA play.
- Jacob Stallings matched a career high with two hits for the third time.
- Ben Bunting was 2-for-5 for his fourth multi-hit game in the last five outings.
- Sophomore Matt Harvey recorded his first career postseason victory in four starts. He worked at least six innings for the third straight start and has allowed just five earned runs over his last three outings for a 2.14 ERA. Friday's win was his seventh of the season, matching his 2008 total.
- Brian Moran struck out five of the nine batters he faced and now owns 87 strikeouts to just eight walks on the season. He earned his fourth save with 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
- The Tar Heels established a new season best by turning four double plays over the first six innings. The previous high mark was three at Boston College May 16 in a Matt Harvey start.
