- With Sunday's 12-1 win over Kansas, North Carolina improved to 12-0 in regional play at home over the last four seasons and advanced to its fourth straight NCAA Super Regional. The Tar Heels have won five regionals in the past seven seasons (since 2003), including four in a row at home since 2006.
- The Tar Heels won their fourth regional in a row by a 31-8 margin, including a 14-5 win over Coastal Carolina Saturday and Sunday*s 12-1 victory over Kansas. UNC last hit the 10-run mark in consecutive postseason games in the 2006 regional.
- UNC is 16-1 at home in the postseason, including the Super Regional round, over the past four years.
- With the victory, Carolina is now 76-52 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, 41-20 under Mike Fox and 29-8 in the postseason since the start of the 2006 tourney.
- The 12-run outburst was the Tar Heels ninth game with 10 or more runs in postseason play since 2006. The 11-run win was Carolina*s largest in the postseason since a 14-2 win over Winthrop in 2006.
- North Carolina and Kansas met for the first time on the diamond Sunday.
- Regional Most Outstanding Player Dustin Ackley hit .714 (10-14) for the weekend with five runs, three doubles, a home run and five RBI. He was joined on the all-tournament team by right-hander Adam Warren, second baseman Levi Michael and outfielders Garrett Gore and Ben Bunting. Bunting hit .462 (6-13) on the weekend, while Gore batted .429 (6-14) with a team-best seven RBI.
- With 6 2/3 scoreless innings, senior right-hander Adam Warren became just the third pitcher in Carolina baseball history to reach the 30-win mark. At 30-4 in his career, Warren is tied with Michael Hoog (1987-90) for second in school history and trails only Robert Woodard*s 34 wins from 2004-07.
- Warren improved to 4-1 in the NCAA Tournament in his career and lowered his postseason ERA to 2.45 in 36 2/3 innings.
- With a third-inning grand slam and a fifth-inning solo shot, Garrett Gore posted his first career multi-home run game and belted his first career postseason homers in 34 NCAA Tournament games. The five RBI were a career-best, bettering a four-RBI effort against Davidson March 28, 2007.
- Gore has five home runs this season, bettering his career total entering 2009. He hit two long balls in both 2007 and 2008.
- Gore*s two-homer effort was the seventh of the season for the Tar Heels. The grand slam was the fifth of the season for the Tar Heels and the first since Kyle Seager*s at Florida State April 12.
- Ben Bunting was 2-for-3, walked and was hit by a pitch to reach base four times Sunday. He has six multi-hit games in the last seven outings and three straight in the NCAA tourney.
- Ackley went 3-for-5 with three runs and a home run to extend a 17-game hitting streak in NCAA play dating to Carolina*s final four games of the 2007 College World Series. He has a hit in 21 of 26 career postseason games and has 13 multi-hit efforts in NCAA play.
- Ackley hit his ACC-best 21st home run in the sixth inning to move into fifth on the Tar Heels* single-season list, just three behind Devy Bell*s 24 in 1986.
- Ackley reached the 100-hit mark for the third straight season with two base hits Sunday. He now has a Carolina-record 335 base hits for his career and is the only player in school history with multiple 100-hit seasons.
- Ackley is batting .508 (33-65) in May with 10 multi-hit games in 15 chances.
