Seager Signs With Seattle, Makes Debut

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - A third-round pick in the 2009 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, former North Carolina All-America Kyle Seager has signed with the Seattle Mariners organization and made his professional debut Friday night.
The Kannapolis, N.C., product started at second base and hit second for the AZL Mariners Rookie League team in a 6-1 loss to the AZL Angels. Seager was 0-for-3 in the game, his first since helping to lead Carolina to a fourth straight trip to the College World Series.
Seager is the fourth Tar Heel to sign following the 2009 season, joining Mark Fleury, Brian Moran and Adam Warren.
