Carolina Golfers Named To All-ACC Academic Golf Teams

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Three University of North Carolina men's golfers were named to the 2009 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Men's Golf Team while three women were selected to the 2009 All-ACC Academic Women's Golf Team as announced by ACC Commissioner John D. Swofford.
Chase MacFarland, a junior Savannah, Ga., was selected to the All-ACC Academic Men's Golf Team for the third time - he was also honored in 2008 and 2006. Henry Zaytoun III, a sophomore from Raleigh, N.C., was selected for the second consecutive year while freshman Patrick Barrett, from Pinehurst, N.C., was chosen for the first time. Along with Carolina, Boston College and Georgia Tech also had three representatives on this year's team.
Sydney Crane, a senior from Jamestown, N.C., was selected to the All-ACC Academic Women's Golf Team for the fourth consecutive year. Junior Kate Thomas, from Murwillumbah, Australia, and freshman Allie White, from Lancaster, Ohio, joined Crane on this year's squad. White was also named to the 2009 All-ACC team. Along with the Tar Heels, Boston College, Florida State and Maryland also had three players on this year's team.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his/her academic career.
