CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - No. 2 North Carolina will look to close a six-match home stand with an unbeaten record when it faces East Tennessee State Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Fetzer Field. The Tar Heels (4-0-1, 2-0-0 ACC) are fresh off a 2-1 win over No. 11 Duke Friday, while the Buccaneers (1-2-2) suffered a 3-0 loss to Elon Saturday.
The Atlantic Coast Conference leader with six points after two weeks, Carolina tops the league in scoring offense with 2.80 goals per game. The Tar Heels feature a balanced attack with eight different goal scorers, including Cameron Brown and Michael Farfan, who have three goals apiece. Carolina has scored at least two goals in four of five matches this season.
Defensively, the Tar Heels have yielded just three goals on the season and no more than one in any match. Brooks Haggerty is third in the ACC with a 0.57 goals against average but is first among keepers that have played at least 450 minutes.
ETSU, which tied Virginia Tech earlier this season, is paced offensively by Jaron Westbrook, who leads the team with three points on a goal and an assist.
The Tar Heels are 1-0-0 all-time against the Buccaneers after posting an 8-0 win last season in Chapel Hill.
