Head Coach: Anson Dorrance
Opening Statement:
"I certainly want to congratulate Notre Dame. I thought they completely outfought us in the first half and they deserved to be in a dominant position going into the second half. I thought we tried to come back in the second half, but they counterattacked well and we just couldn't seem to get anything past their defense and their goalkeeper.
Having said that, I'm certainly proud of our season. For us to lose the kids we've lost and to have the number of injuries, to have this kind of year is something I'm very proud of. I'm certainly proud of my senior leaders and they way they guided this young team. And I'm just sorry the season is over."
On any adjustments made after trailing at the half:
"We didn't really have to make too much of a change from our classic game plan in the back. The change we made was actually to try and score. What we did was we took Meg Morris out of the back and threw her to the right half just to get some speed on the flank. It was an adjustment designed to try and get back in the game."
On coming up short on several scoring opportunities in second half:
"We got a lot of very competitive kids and we refused to roll over and we went after them a bit. But to Notre Dame's credit they hung in there like grim death. We couldn't slice anything by their very active goalkeeper."
Meghan Klingenberg
On legacy she hopes to leave for younger teammates after graduation:
"We have a really special group of people. Not just players, we have good people. People that I love to be around. And obviously I hope they win a national championship, but I really hope they have as amazing an experience as I did in four years."
On facing Notre Dame every season of her collegiate career:
"They're great. There's a reason we play them every year. I wish we could have played them farther down the line, but the brackets didn't end up that way. They're always tough and they always come out and play us as hard as they can."
