TUCSON, Ariz. - The North Carolina baseball team will open the 2011 season ranked No. 27 according to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. The publication released its Fabulous 40 NCAA Division I Preseason Poll on Monday.
The Tar Heels are coming off a ninth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament after going 38-22 a year ago. Leading the way will be junior shortstop Levi Michael who was named a College Baseball Preseason All-America on Friday.
The Tar Heels will open the 2011 campaign against Cal Poly in Los Angeles, Calif. on Feb. 18.
