CHAPEL HILL - The 22nd-ranked UNC Tar Heels defeated Richmond 7-0 in the nightcap of Thursday's doubleheader.
The Tar Heels improved to 4-0 in doubleheaders this year and have won five of their last six dual matches to open the season.
"We didn't come out with a lot of energy in doubles in the Charlotte match, but I think we corrected that in singles and tonight," said head coach Sam Paul. "Overall, I am pleased with the day."
Carolina's top two doubles teams both recorded 8-2 victories to clinch the team point and a 1-0 lead. Cameron Ahari and Ryan Noble then held off Jesse Feder and Dylan Schrode to complete a doubles sweep.
In singles, every UNC player won in straight sets. Cameron Ahari and Luke Mojica both dropped only one game in 6-1, 6-0 victories.
Carolina will travel to Columbus next for a tough road match against third-ranked Ohio State.
"[Ohio State] has a great team, so it will be a great challenge for us on the road," said Paul. "We're looking forward to playing them."
The two square off at noon on Sunday, Feb. 7.
