Carolina Women Finish Their Last Prelim Session Of The 2010 NCAA Championships

ChAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Tar Heel women competed in their last day of the 2010 NCAA Division-I Swimming and Diving Championships Saturday morning in West Lafayette, Indiana. Sophomore Laura Moriarty swam a career best time of 2:09.60 in the 200-yard breaststroke and is seeded fifth going into finals.
Carly Smith competed in the 200-yard backstroke touching in a time of 1:54.75 qualifying for the consolation heat in 14th place.
Rebecca Kane finished the 100-yard freestyle in a season best time of 49.20.
Layne Brodie also competed in the 200-yard breaststroke and finished in 17th place with a time of 2:11.75.
The 400-yard freestyle relay finished in a time of 3:21.01 in 20th place. Rebecca Kane led off in a time of 49.75, followed by Katie Nolan in a time of 50.07, then Sarah Tanner in a time of 50.88, and anchored by Katura Harvey who touched in a time of 50.31.
Finals will begin Saturday night at 7 p.m.
