Tar Heel Trio Races In Semis

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - All three North Carolina boats raced in semifinals Saturday at the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta but failed to reach the event finals. The varsity four and varsity eight finished in fifth in their semifinals and the second varsity eight was sixth. In each case, the top two boats in the semifinal advanced to the final.
The Carolina varsity four turned in a time of 7:49.49, with Lafayette winning the semifinal in 7:26.48. Racing in the varsity four were Sarah Cook (coxswain), Kristi Roblin (stroke), Lindsay Paterniti, Toni Moran and Jasmine Dennis (bow).
Carolina's varsity eight also came in fifth, in 7:21.95 with a lineup of Emma Shaw (coxswain), Kelsey Grich (stroke), Alex McClelland, Megan McMullin, JoAnne Rogers, Sarah Day, Blair Meiggs, Andi Drabot and Brittany Walsh (bow).
The Tar Heels' second varsity eight finished sixth in 7:07.44. .Buffalo won in 6:38.90. The Tar Heel lineup was Jennifer Nowicki (coxswain), Sefe Emokpae (stroke), Erin Berg, Alex Biggers, Liz Teel, Shelby Austin, Claire Wardius, Jessica Crumpler and Leah Kosow (bow).
