NORMAN, OKLA --- Three North Carolina players earned Norman Regional All-Tournament Honors for their performances in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Junior Matt Harvey, freshman Brian Goodwin and senior Ryan Graepel were named to the 11 man squad Sunday.
Harvey earned his eighth victory of the year Friday night in a 12-3 win over Cal. The junior struck out nine Golden Bear batters and will finish his career at Carolina ranking ninth all-time in strikeouts and tenth all-time in career wins.
Goodwin was solid in his first NCAA postseason action as one of Carolina's top performers at the plate. The freshman's weekend was highlighted by his game tying two-out two RBI triple Saturday night against Oklahoma. Goodwin tied the single season school record with eight triples that has stood since 1949 in his freshman campaign.
Graepel finished his career at North Carolina in tremendous fashion. The senior belted a game tying line drive home run in Sunday's narrow 3-2 loss against Oklahoma. The veteran shortstop posted career-bests in batting average (.329), home runs (7) and RBI (53).
