Tar Heel postgame notes, January 13, 2011 vs. Virginia Tech
16 points is Carolina's largest deficit overcome to win since the Tar Heels trailed Boston College by 18 points (40-58) with 18:17 to play in the second half at BC on March 1, 2008. Carolina won that game, 90-80.
The Hokies led 28-12 and 31-15 in the first half of tonight's game.
The Tar Heels have now won consecutive games in which they trailed by double figures in the second half. UNC trailed Virginia, 32-43, with 13:43 to play and won, 62-56 on Jan. 8, 2011.
Kendall Marshall tied his season high with nine assists and scored nine points, his most since he had 10 against Lipscomb in the opening game. He also had a season high three steals.
John Henson's 17 points are his career best in an ACC game. He had 14 last year at Virginia Tech and at Duke.
Tonight's win is Carolina's 300th in the Dean E. Smith Center. The Tar Heels are 300-56 in their 26th season in the Smith Center.
