PALM SPRINGS, Calif.- Two UNC players dominated the National Collegiate Tennis Classic over the weekend, winning the doubles championship and facing off in the singles final.
The rare doubles pairing of Jose Hernandez and Brennan Boyajian - they went 2-2 last year at No. 3 doubles - won Sunday's final by an 8-4 margin over Alfredo Moreno and Hugh Clark of Pepperdine.
Hernandez, ranked No. 30, got the singles crown after his opponent, Boyajian, No. 90, pulled out with an injury default.
The Tar Heels begin dual-match play at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 23 against UNC-Charlotte at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
