Schuler Earns TDS Team Of The Week Honors

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Redshirt junior forward Billy Schuler was named to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week on Monday after his two goal performance in helpin lead the Tar Heels to a pair of wins. Schuler tallied his 25th career goal Friday night in leading Carolina past NC State, 2-1, in overtime.
Schuler opened the week with a goal and an assist at No. 25 South Carolina as he helped lead the Tar Heels to a 4-0 win over the rival Gamecocks. The multi-point game was Schuler's third of the year as he converted a penalty to up UNC's lead to 3-0 before distributing an assist on a goal from Ben Speas.
The Allentown, N.J., native followed up that performance by breaking through for his sixth game winner of the year and now leads the Tar Heels in points with 27 on the year thanks to a team-high 12 goals and three assists.
The game winner against the Wolfpack was Schuler's 25th career goal and is now just three goals shy of entering the career top 10 at UNC after only three full seasons.
Schuler and the Tar Heels will take on No. 13 Boston College on Wednesday as they search for a second straight ACC regular season title in Newton, Mass.
