CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Fresh off a 2-1 overtime win over UNC Asheville the No. 3 North Carolina Tar Heels return to action on Friday when they host Atlantic Coast Conference foe Clemson at 7:30 p.m. at Fetzer Field.
The Tar Heels have won three of the last four meetings against the Tigers, including the last two which Carolina has taken by two goals each time.
Carolina used goals from Michael Farfan and Rob Lovejoy in 2010 to pick up a 2-0 home victory after claiming a 3-1 win in Clemson, S.C. thanks to goals from Jordan Graye, Billy Schuler and Martin Murphy.
The Tar Heel offense is clicking on all cylinders entering Friday night's contest having scored at least two goals in the last four contests and outscoring its opponents 16-4 during the seven-match unbeaten streak.
Friday night's contest is the fourth straight match at home for the Tar Heels who are 6-0-1 inside the friendly confines of Fetzer Field. Carolina has not lost a match at home since a season-opening loss to eventual National Champion Akron in 2010, a string of 18 straight matches.
Clemson comes in with a 3-5-0 record on the season and a 1-3-0 conference mark after dropping a 2-0 decision at home to Virginia last Friday. The loss snapped a two-match winning streak for the Tigers who knocked off NC State in overtime, 2-1, before doing the same thing to Gardner-Webb the very next match.
Kick off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Fetzer Field as the team will be recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month and will be wearing pink against the Tigers.
