Hedges Named To CSN National Team Of The Week

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Senior defender Matt Hedges was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for his performance a week ago in the 2-0 win over No. 10 Boston College. Hedges tallied the game winning goal early in the second half and helped the defense to its seventh shutout of the year.
Hedges has been a constant fixture along the Tar Heel backline in 2011 helping Carolina to seven shutouts on the year, including four in conference play. The Tar Heels have allowed just 13 goals on the year to lead the ACC and rank among the top 20 programs in the country.
Hedges has found the back of the net in the last two contests and holds four goals on the year.
Hedges and the Tar Heels will open the ACC Tournament on Tuesday when they host the winner of Monday afternoon's first round contest between NC State and Virginia Tech.
