Goodwin Named Academic All-America

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina goalkeeper Scott Goodwin was named to the Capital One Academic All-America Second Team on Thursday for his performance on the field and in the classroom, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday.
A native of Raleigh, N.C., Goodwin has tallied 45 saves in 2117 minutes of work on the year in helping the Tar Heels to a 19-2-2 mark. Goodwin has turned in nine clean sheets in 2011 and has 22 for his career.
Goodwin is the first Tar Heel to earn Academic All-America honors since Bill Dworsky earned third team honors in 2007.
