CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The UNC Tar Heels lost a tough match against a top-five opponent Tuesday afternoon.
No. 4 Ohio State secured a 6-1 victory behind a strong showing in the singles portion of the dual match.
North Carolina engineered an upset at the third doubles flight, as Cameron Ahari and William Parker defeated 66th-ranked Devin McCarthy and Blas Novak
8-6. The Buckeyes won the other two matches to secure the team doubles point.
The lone bright spot for the Tar Heels in singles play was No. 107 Stefan Hardy's straight-sets victory against 103rd-ranked Ille Van Engelen. William Parker was tied through two sets with No. 55 Devin McCarthy, but was forced to play a 10-point tiebreaker in place of his third set since the team match had already been decided, which he lost 10-6.
UNC will travel to South Bend next to face Notre Dame this Sunday at noon.
