Tar Heels Close Out Day 2 Of VT Challenge

BLACKSBURG, Va.- The Carolina track and field program finished out their regular season competition with the second day of the Virginia Tech Challenge Saturday. The Tar Heels will return to Blacksburg next week for the ACC Indoor Championships.
Freshman Merritt Van Meter took fourth in the women's pole vault with 12-7 1/2, and senior Parker Smith also took fourth in the men's event with a height of 17-1 1/2. Junior Alex Cremer finished eighth in the men's 800 in 1:52.04.
Yesterday, freshman Isaac Presson took fourth in the men's mile in 4:03.81 to record the fastest time by a freshman in Carolina history.
