Tar Heels Ready For Softball Senior Weekend

CHAPEL HILL --- In their final home series of 2011, North Carolina hosts Boston College for a three-game set beginning Friday at 3 p.m. from Anderson Stadium. UNC and the Eagles are slated for a doubleheader Friday followed by the series finale Saturday at 1 p.m. The Tar Heels will honor the 2011 senior class of Dani Manko, Brittany McKinney and Brittany Robinson for senior weekend.

BOSTON COLLEGE SERIES NOTES
• North Carolina is 16-2 all-time against Boston College dating to the 1986 season.
• Carolina has won the last 11 meetings with the Eagles, including a three-game sweep last season.
• UNC battled to a 16-9 extra inning victory in game two of the 2010 series in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
• The Tar Heels will honor the 2011 senior class prior to Saturday's game for their service in Carolina blue.

NOTING THE TAR HEELS
• North Carolina will look to build on an 11-4 win over Elon Wednesday. The Tar Heels improved to 14-0 when scoring six or more runs in 2011.
• The Tar Heels feature a balanced attack with a .278 team batting average, 2.52 staff ERA and a .959 fielding percentage.
• Seniors Dani Manko, Brittany McKinney and Brittany Robinson combined for four hits and six RBI in Wednesday's win over Elon. The senior trio has complied an amazing 167 wins over the last four seasons in Carolina blue.
• Freshman Lori Spingola leads UNC in the circle with a 22-14 mark, 1.78 ERA and 233 strikeouts to just 43 walks. The Atlanta, Ga., native moved into tenth place all-time in single season school history in strikeouts (233) and innings pitched (219.2) in Wednesday's win over Elon.
NOTING THE EAGLES
• Elon sports a .249 team batting average, 4.47 staff ERA and .954 fielding percentage. The Eagles have dropped their last three contests, including a 6-3 decision to Bryant College Wednesday.
• Tory Spear leads the Eagles at the plate with a .439 batting average in 13 conference games. Spear has belted five home runs in ACC play.
• In the circle, Allison Gage anchors Boston College with a 4-4 record in 12 appearances in ACC play. The senior has thrown the lion's share of the innings for the Eagles, holding batters to a .262 average.
