Tar Heels And Demon Deacons To Resume Saturday

DURHAM, N.C. - With North Carolina leading Wake Forest, 5-0, late Saturday night another rain storm halted play at 1:55 a.m. The Tar Heels and Demon Deacons will resume play on Saturday following the conclusion of the NC State and Clemson game.
Senior right-hander Patrick Johnson did not allowed a hit through the opening six innings walking just two batters both in the first inning.
Johnson picked off the opening hitter of the game Pat Blair after he walked and backstop Jacob Stallings threw out his 29th runner of the year to close out the first for the Tar Heels.
The Tar Heels pegged Johnson to a 1-0 lead after the opening inning when Levi Michael singled through the right side and Jesse Wierzbicki doubled into the left field corner to plate Michael.
The Tar Heels tacked on a pair of runs in the fourth when senior Greg Holt blasted a two-run homer off a building in left field to stretch the lead to 3-0.
Levi Michael and Jesse Wierzbicki each hit solo home runs in the fifth to extend Carolina's lead to 5-0.
Johnson recorded 16 consecutive outs and has not allowed a run in his last 15 innings of work and his outing will likely come to an end with the resumption on Saturday.
