Overall Team Notes
• North Carolina's 51 wins on the season rank in a tie for fourth in school history with the 1990 squad that went 51-14.
• The Tar Heels have finished in at least fifth place in Omaha in each of the past five trips.
• Carolina finished the season with a .979 fielding percentage, the highest in school history. The previous high was the 2007 squad that posted a .974 mark.
• UNC's 358 walks on the season were 34 more than the previous single-season high of 324 set by the 1990 team.
• With Wednesday's 5-1 loss to Vanderbilt, Carolina fell to 15-19 all-time in CWS play, including a 13-11 record in the last five appearances (since 2006).
• UNC is now 7-3 in bracket-play elimination games over the last five years (four appearances) and 9-9 in CWS elimination games overall.
• With the loss, the Tar Heels are now 87-58 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, 52-26 under Mike Fox and 39-14 in the postseason since the start of the 2006 tourney.
Team Notes
• The UNC bullpen threw 5.1 scoreless innings Wednesday, allowing four hits, no walks and facing just three over the minimum.
Individual Notes
• Junior C Jacob Stallings tallied a pair of doubles for the second time this season Wednesday. Stallings is now 7 for 16 (.438) with four RBIs in six career CWS games.
• Stallings threw out his 32nd runner of the season, extending his single season school record and moving into third place in the country. Stallings has thrown out 47 runners in three years at Carolina, the fourth-most in school history, 17 shy of the school record of 64 set by Dan Moylan (1998-00).
• Sophomore LHP R.C. Orlan threw 3.2 innings of relief on Wednesday, the most of his career. Orlan also matched a career high with three strikeouts.
• Senior OF Ben Bunting finished with a team-best .400 average (14 for 35) in the 2011 NCAA Tournament. Bunting finishes his career 11 for 26 (.423) with six runs scored in seven career CWS games.
