Golfers Ousted At U.S. Women's Amateur

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Two University of North Carolina women's golfers, Casey Grice and Courtney Gunter, bowed out in the first round of match play at the 2011 U.S. Women's Amateur which is being played at Rhode Island Country Club in Barrington, R.I., a par 71, 6,350-yard layout during match play.
Grice, a rising sophomore from College Station, Texas, was defeated 3&2 by Ket Preamchuen, a rising junior at Kennesaw State.
Gunter, a rising junior from Matthews, N.C., lost 4&3 to Christine Wong, a rising junior from San Diego State.
Rhode Island Country Club, celebrating its 100th anniversary, was designed by Donald Ross. Match play continues through Sunday with a 36-hole championship final. This marks the fourth time the U.S. Women's Amateur will be played at Rhode Island Country Club.
