Chapel Hill, N.C. - Incoming Carolina freshman Jenna Kelly helped the SoCal Athletics repeat as 18U Premier Girls' Fastpitch national champions Saturday. The A's defeated the Worth Firecrackers 8-7 in Irvine, Calif.
Kelly belted a solo home run and walked twice, scoring a pair of runs for the Athletics. The Saugus, Calif., native hit .250 during the playoffs as she uncorked three home runes and tallied 6 RBI in 11 games.
Kelly is an infielder from Saugus, Calif. The Saugus High School product throws and bats right-handed and plans to wear number 22 for North Carolina. Kelly is a four-time team captain and three-time MVP at Saugus. She has earned First-Team All-Foothill League honors her sophomore and junior seasons.
Kelly will reunite with former So Cal Athletics club teammate Amy Nece, a rising sophomore for Carolina, when she joins the Tar Heels this fall.
