UNC Tabbed No. 3 In Early Polls

With less than a month until North Carolina's season opener against UNC Wilmington Aug. 27 the preseason rankings are beginning to roll in and the Tar Heels were pegged No. 3 by both College Soccer News and Goal.com.
The Tar Heels are one of six Atlantic Coast Conference teams in the College Soccer News Top 30 poll along with Maryland (8), Virginia (12), Boston College (13), Duke (16) and Wake Forest (25).
In addition to the five conference foes Carolina will face during the regular season, the Tar Heels will also take on a pair of ranked non-conference opponents in No. 26 Old Dominion and No. 1 Louisville.
In the Goal.com Preseason Top 25 Poll Carolina also checks in at No. 3 along with Maryland (10), Duke (11), Virginia (12), Wake Forest (15) and NC State (25). A pair of non-conference opponents were also ranked as Louisville (4) and South Carolina (17) also garnered recognition.
Carolina opens practice Aug. 10 and nine days later will play an exhibition game at Coastal Carolina on Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. in Conway, S.C.
