UNC-Miami Postgame Notes

Carolina won for the 28th straight game in the Smith Center and the 29th straight home game.

Prior to tonight's 17-point win by the Tar Heels, the previous four games in the series had been won by UNC by a combined 16 points.

Kendall Marshall scored a season-high 12 points, the first time this season the point guard has reached double figures. It was Marshall's first double-figure scoring game since March 20, 2011, when he had 13 points against Washington in the NCAA 3rd Round.

Dexter Strickland tied his season scoring high with 14 points on 7 of 9 shooting from the floor. It was the sixth time this year he and 22nd time in his career that he scored in double figures. Healso had 14 points this season against Nicholls.

Strickland scored his 600th career point this evening. He now has 613 points in 90 games as a Tar Heel.

Tyler Zeller (16 points and 10 rebounds) and John Henson (11 points and 14 rebounds) each had double-doubles. It was the fourth timethis year they both had double-doubles.

Kendall Marshall tied his career high with five field goals. It was the fourth time he has made five field goals in a game and the first time since beating Duke at home last March.

Harrison Barnes, who was averaging 22.2 points in the last four games, scored a season-low six points.

Tyler Zeller, who is second in the ACC in offensive rebounds, had a game-high six offensive boards this evening.

The Tar Heels held Miami to three three-point field goals and seven made free throws, the lowest totals made by the Hurricanes in each category this season. Carolina also out-rebounded the Canes by 16 (UM's previous largest margin was a minus 10 rebounding margin against Florida Atlantic).

The win was Roy Williams' 240th as head coach of the Tar Heels, which ties him with Wake Forest's Dave Odom for ninth in ACC history.
